Hungary’s governing Tisza Party has reached an unprecedented level of public support, according to a new survey by Závecz Research, opening a gap of roughly three million supporters over former ruling party Fidesz.
Tisza Party’s popularity is constantly growing
The poll, conducted between 27 May and 3 June on a representative sample of 1,000 respondents, with 3.2% margin of error, found that 56–57% of the adult population would support Tisza Party if an election were held now. By contrast, only 18% named Fidesz as their preferred party.
Based on the findings, Tisza currently enjoys the backing of approximately 4.4 million people, while Fidesz is supported by around 1.4 million, creating a difference of about three million voters, as reported by Telex.
Huge lead among committed voters
The advantage is even more pronounced among respondents who said they would definitely participate in an election and had already chosen a party. Within this group, Tisza commands 73% support, while Fidesz trails far behind on 20%.
Support for smaller parties remains limited. The survey measured 5% support for Mi Hazánk among committed voters, while the Democratic Coalition (DK) and the Two-Tailed Dog Party each stood at 1%.
According to Závecz Research, if an election were held today, Tisza could expect around 3.9 million votes from committed supporters. This would represent a gain of nearly 600,000 votes compared with its performance in the recent parliamentary election.
Fidesz, meanwhile, could count on only about 1.1 million committed voters, more than one million fewer than the 2.176 million votes received by the Fidesz–KDNP alliance in April.

Historic milestone and generational divide
The polling institute noted that Tisza Party has now achieved the highest level of support ever measured for a Hungarian political party since the democratic transition of 1989–1990.
The previous record belonged to Fidesz following its landslide victory in 2010, when the party’s support among committed voters reached between 62% and 68%. Tisza has now surpassed that benchmark.
The survey also highlighted significant demographic differences. Fidesz support has fallen into single digits among voters aged 18–39, where it stands at 9%, and among Budapest residents, where it records just 8%. In these same groups, Tisza enjoys support levels of 63% and 70%, respectively.
The findings reinforce earlier polling by Medián, which also reported a substantial Tisza Party lead over Fidesz in recent weeks.

Former supporters of Fidesz are gradually feeling like complete fools as they realize that they were conned the whole time by a criminal organization that ran the country. There are some hardcore nutjobs, however, that you can never cure. The poltical brainwashing took over their minds.
Hi Larry
Wie recht Sie doch haben. Ihr letzter Satz bestätigt sich in krasser Weise im Kommentar von Michael. Er gehört zweifellos zu den “Gehirngewaschenen”.
Sorry, I dare to say that you should stop watching Netflix, neocons and anlgosaxon ploutocrats propaganda…it’s painful to read so dummed comments. Travel a bit and you’ll see that Hungary under Orban was a free country compare to many western european countries much more corrupt! There corruption is more complex and legalized by the supranational organisations mafia…
Sure it’s not three BILLION?
What a bunch of nonsense.
The methodology of these polls is laughable but, even if the data were true, it means nothing. Tisza has not as yet done anything with the consequences for people to feel on their own skin.
Let’s revisit this topic in a year or two, and see the figures (hopefully from sources more credible!) then!
By credible sources I take it you mean Szazadveg and 21. Szazad Intezet? The Fidesz kommisars that put out wholly false/erroneous data that the election result proved was a load of nonsense? Meanwhile, Median (Hann Bandi the famous ‘humorista’ according to Fidesz) and 21 Kutatokozpont proved to be bang on the money.
I’ll give you that Tisza support will have declined 2 years from now, that’s entirely normal for a government that has had to make difficult decisions that are to the detriment of certain segments of society and haven’t been able to conjure up a world of milk and honey. Where we probably differ is that those that will have left the Tisza camp won’t have drifted back to Fidesz (whose figures are likely to be even lower than today’s limp polling numbers), they’ll be swelling the ranks of Mi Hazank as well as a party (or parties) that are yet to be launched. In particular there’s a thirst for a new left-of-centre social democratic party as the right is (quite evidently) overrepresented in Parliament on the basis that centrist and left-of-centre parliamentarians don’t exist.

The same Steiner, the same bullshit.
