Hungary’s national tax authority NAV has seized 772 kilos of Danube crayfish, an endangered species in Hungary, from a Romanian lorry at the Nagylak border crossing.
The 17,000 pieces of crayfish worth 842 million forints (EUR 2m) were stashed in the vehicle which was on its way to Italy, NAV said on Thursday.
