Shocking video shows paramedic kicking restrained patient in the head in Hungary

On Tuesday evening in Heves County, at Hatvan railway station, an on-duty paramedic brutally assaulted a man who was in a vulnerable condition.

Paramedic kicked the patient in the head with full force

A passenger on the 7:15 PM train recorded the shocking scene, showing the paramedic forcefully kicking the patient in the head from behind. The man was lying handcuffed on a stretcher at the time of the assault, RTL News reported. According to witnesses, the man had earlier attempted to jump in front of a train, prompting railway staff to intervene. They restrained and handcuffed him before the paramedic arrived—and subsequently attacked him.

Ambulance Service immediately dismissed the perpetrator

Following the incident, the National Ambulance Service (OMSZ) terminated the paramedic’s employment with immediate effect and filed a criminal complaint, meaning a criminal investigation has now been launched. In its statement, the OMSZ stressed that such inhumane aggression is incompatible with the medical profession and basic human decency, adding that a person who behaves in such a way can no longer be a member of the ambulance community.

Other paramedics reportedly did not see the assault

The video shows several people standing around the stretcher, including railway staff and two police officers, but the paramedic’s attack was sudden. The officers present later stated that they did not see what had happened.

According to reports, the man’s marriage had recently broken down after two decades, and in his despair, he may have gone to the railway station intending to end his life. Witnesses said it was difficult to restrain him, which is why he had to be handcuffed.

Police investigation launched

The Hatvan Police Department has launched an investigation into the case. RTL also reminded viewers that in times of crisis, the free mental health helpline 116-123 is available and can be called from any mobile phone.

Hopefully they both get a fair day in court.

What’s the legal penalty for spitting at someone? How many extrajudicial kicks does the alleged victim get?

      Big fan of corporal punishment?

Look up what they say about Hungarian medical eduction and accreditation there. Especially in terms of the MAB and post-hoc re-examination after accreditation.
