Parliament approves Sunday closure for shops
Budapest, December 16 (MTI) – Lawmakers approved on Tuesday the introduction of Sunday close for shops effective from March 15 next year.
The co-ruling Christian Democrats proposal, amended in several points by ruling Fidesz, was passed with 119 votes in favour, 40 against and 25 abstentions.
The advent season before Christmas will be exempt from the ban on Sunday shopping and one additional Sunday can be freely picked by shops when they can open.
Shops smaller than 200 square metres will be also exempt from the ban on condition that the owner and his or her family members work there.
