Tisza leader Péter Magyar lays flowers at Novi Sad railway station in Serbia

Péter Magyar, the leader of the Tisza party, has placed flowers at the Novi Sad railway station in commemoration of an accident in November, when the facade of the building collapsed, killing 15 and injuring many more.
Magyar said on Facebook on Sunday that after the accident, civilian protest had strengthened “against a deep-seated, corrupt leadership”. The months since have seen “enormous demonstrations in Belgrade, Novi Sad and several cities”, he said.
The Serbian prime minister has resigned as a result of the protests, but “the position of the friend and business partner of [Prime Minister Viktor] Orbán, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, seems stable at the moment,” Magyar said, adding that analysts had said “that is because Serbia has no strong, united opposition force such as Tisza that’s ready to govern”.

Péter Magyar: Tisza stands by anti-corruption efforts
“Tisza stands by the Serbian people’s anti-corruption efforts and Serbia’s speedy European Union accession,” Magyar said. “We also support further strengthening the rights and opportunities of Vojvodina Hungarians, so that as many as possible can make a living in their homelands,” Magyar added.
