On the afternoon of the 2nd of May, a hunter found golden jackal pups in Kunszentmárton, Hungary.
Although the species can be shot all year round, the hobby hunter alerted his professional colleagues, who arrived on the scene to help the few-day-old cubs. It is still uncertain whether the returning bitch will leave the cubs or continue to raise them.
The 10 cubs were put in a box and taken to the president of the hunting party, Sándor Tálas, who is a veterinarian. After the examination, the cubs were transported to Hortobágy, where they will be raised.
Golden Jackal pups are difficult to find, the predator is very observant. They are constantly supervised 24 hours a day and are raised with a pacifier.
“At the moment, they need constant feeding. Until they are able to feed themselves and become strong, they will remain in our hospital. When the time is right, they will be placed in a wildlife park where they can live a full life in a safe yet natural environment,” the Bird Hospital’s Facebook page explains.
