PHOTOS: Bomb threat in popular Budapest mall
Authorities evacuated a popular Budapest shopping mall, a meeting place close to the iconic Hungarian Parliament and Andrássy Avenue, following a bomb threat received by Westend’s management. Police officers and the mall’s security service thoroughly searched the building but found nothing.
According to index.hu, authorities evacuated the Westend Mall in Budapest yesterday at 5 p.m. due to a bomb threat. There was no panic; people left the shopping and entertainment centre in an organised manner.
The mall manager confirmed that they had received a bomb threat via phone. Thankfully, the bomb squad found nothing during their search of the building. As a result, people could return to the mall in the evening. However, several places had already closed by then, and employees had gone home.
According to a response from the police to Telex, they have opened an investigation focused on one individual.
