PM Orbán: the EC’s prison team could go to the European Football Championship

Viktor Orbán commented on the latest developments in the European Parliament corruption scandal with a football analogy.
The Hungarian prime minister mocked the European Parliament on Twitter.
“At this rate, soon there will be enough corrupt MEPs behind bars to form their own football team in prison. Who knows? They could even make it to the #Euro2024.”
Orbán joked that the European Parliament had reportedly started the procedure to waive the immunity of two more MEPs in the wake of the Qatar-gate corruption scandal.
The Hungarian PM concluded his post with Donald Trump’s oft-quoted words, “It’s time to #draintheswamp in Brussels!”
Evan Kaili, the Socialist President of the EP, and three of his colleagues were arrested on 9 December 2022 by the Belgian authorities as part of a corruption investigation. According to police, nearly EUR 1.5 million was seized during a search in the Brussels region, 24.hu reports.
