Police investigate circumstances around food distribution at Roszke – VIDEO
Budapest, September 11 (MTI) – Responding to the release of a video showing police in the Roszke camp throwing bags of food and bottled water to migrants, a police spokesperson said an investigation had been launched.
The video had been recorded at the southern border camp by the wife of an Austrian green politician who had been distributing humanitarian aid at the camp.
Viktoria Csiszer-Kovacs of the national police headquarters also dismissed reports that the Hungarian authorities were failing to brief their Austrian colleagues, saying that constant contact was being maintained by email.
Citing feedback from charities coinciding with his own experience, human resources ministry state secretary Miklos Soltesz said in Roszke that police were handling migrants in a humane way.
“Police officers are making extraordinary efforts to cope with the situation, and are displaying a great deal of expertise and patience,” he said.
