Pope Francis invited to Eucharistic Congress in Hungary
Pope Francis has been invited to the International Eucharistic Congress Hungary is to host in 2020, Bishop András Veres, head of the Hungarian Catholic Bishops’ Conference (MKPK), told MTI in Rome.
Veres noted the pope’s advanced years and suggested the possibility “that he cannot attend the event personally”. He added, however, that in that case
“we can take it for granted that the Vatican will be represented at the highest possible level.”
The ad limina visit focussed on Hungary’s plan to be the first country in Europe to introduce masses to be celebrated in the Roma community’s Lovari language within a year and a half, Bishop János Székely of Szombathely said.
The bishop, who is in charge of Roma pastoral care, said the Bible has already been translated into Romany while the mass-book is being translated.
