Vatican City (MTI) – Pope Francis has sent a letter of condolence to Cardinal Peter Erdo, Archbishop of Esztergom-Budapest, stating that he was saddened to learn the news of the death of Cardinal Laszlo Paskai, archbishop emeritus of Esztergom-Budapest.
“I offer prayerful condolences to you, the clergy, men and women religious and lay faithful of the Archdiocese of Esztergom-Budapest, and I thank Almighty God for his many years of service to the Church in Hungary,” he said in the letter, the Catholic News Agency reported.
“I impart my Apostolic Blessing as a pledge of consolation and peace in the Lord,” he added.
The late Cardinal Paskai passed away on Monday at the age of 89.
