Retailers could be forced to hire more workers
Budapest, October 28 (MTI) – A planned legislative proposal would force retail shops with more than 400 sqm floor space to have at least one employee per 70 sqm available for customers during opening hours, in effect doubling the payrolls of companies, daily Magyar Idok said on Wednesday.
According to the daily a proposal will soon be submitted to Parliament introducing a minimum rate for employee numbers tied to floor space in shops.
The changes could come into effect in 2016 and would significantly raise the payroll costs of supermarket chains, the paper said.
