RB Leipzig has announced the appointment of Zsolt Lőw as interim head coach, marking the Hungarian tactician’s return to the club where he previously served as assistant coach. Lőw, who has gained extensive experience in European football, including a successful tenure alongside Thomas Tuchel at Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain, will lead Leipzig during a transitional period until a permanent head coach is appointed.

Lőw’s task is clear but challenging: stabilise the team and prepare them for the remainder of the season. In an interview with Nemzeti Sport, he revealed that his role is expected to last approximately seven weeks, during which he aims to lay a solid foundation for his successor. He emphasised his commitment to maintaining Leipzig’s competitive edge in both domestic and European competitions.

The Hungarian coach’s return has been warmly received by familiar faces within the squad. Péter Gulácsi, Leipzig’s long-serving goalkeeper and fellow Hungarian, expressed his excitement about working with Lőw again. Club captain Willi Orbán also welcomed the new appointment, highlighting Lőw’s deep understanding of the club’s philosophy and culture.
