Romanian woman ripped off Hungarians with over half a million euros
Between 2019 and 2020, a Romanian woman managed to rip off several Hungarian victims. She stole over 565 thousand euros, which is worth over 200 million forints.
No country is free of crimes. Some, however, tend to experience crazy and weird offences. Hungary, for instance, had some surprising things happening the past year.

Stealing money is the most direct and probably the fastest way to become wealthy. Until you get caught. A Romanian woman chose this method to acquire some cash. For the first two times, she was successful. Although third time’s the charm, this attempt proved to be the last for her, according to Hello Magyar.
The 43-year-old V. Florica ripped off three people between December 2019 and December 2020.
She managed to steal over 200 million forints (over 565 thousand euros).
As the Budapest Police Headquarters wrote on police.hu on Sunday morning, the “rip deal” was committed on three occasions, damaging the bank accounts of three Hungarian victims.
The perpetrator pretended to be the representative of an Italian businessman and used an English and an Italian phone number
to call the owner of a family home offered for sale in Budapest. She asked for almost 200 thousand euros for her role in selling the valuable property.
The two parties agreed to meet in December 2020 in the office of a Budapest lawyer. The perpetrator was shown an envelope full of euros, worth 70 million forints. That is where the magic happened. The woman accidentally put the envelope in her bag before realising her mistake and quickly giving it back to the seller. Then she left in a hurry to catch a taxi outside.
As her sudden exit seemed suspicious, the lawyer and the property owner quickly opened the envelope, only to find banknotes of the national currency of Uzbekistan. Which was worth much less, of course.
The seller of the family house ran after the woman and stopped her until the police arrived.
The envelope containing the 200 thousand euros was found in a hidden pocket of her bag, with the help of which she managed to execute her plan.
According to the announcement of the police, this crime was not her first in Hungary.
A year earlier, on two occasions, she already asked for 200 thousand euros for the mediation of the purchase of two industrial sites. Those fooled businessmen found paper cut into pieces in their envelopes.
The woman made sure her story stood a chance and even had meetings in Rome with the property sellers before asking for the money.
She was questioned for business fraud causing especially grave damage on three occasions, though she denies everything. Her arrest was ordered, and the police sent all the necessary documentation to the Prosecutor.
