Romania’s main opposition lodges censure motion against government
Romania’s main opposition Social Democratic Party (PSD) on Monday lodged a censure motion against the liberal government, said PSD leader Marcel Ciolacu.
Ciolacu criticized “the incompetence” of the government led by Ludovic Orban, leader of the National Liberal Party, in dealing with the COVID-19 crisis and the way in which the government has carried out public acquisitions of medical equipment.
The motion will be read on Thursday and voted at the beginning of September.
The motion will be passed if at least 233 MPs — 50 percent plus one in the 465-seat bicameral parliament — voted for it. The Social Democrats hold 210 seats in the parliament.
