Russian gas supplies to Hungary undisturbed, says MVM
(MTI) – Uninterrupted natural gas supplies to Hungary are guaranteed by effective international agreements, Hungarian energy company MVM said on Friday, responding to a query by MTI.
Earlier in the day, Russia’s gas company Gazprom threatened to stop gas exports to Ukraine unless that country settled its gas payments.
Ensuring that households are supplied with gas is a top priority, MVM said in a statement, adding that both the Russian and the Ukrainian parties have indicated that they would fulfil their contractual obligations.
MVM, however, has made preparations in case the amount of gas from Ukraine should be curbed, the statement said, referring to alternative routes, domestic natural gas extraction and Hungary’s gas reserves of 1,400 million cubic metres.
