Sunday 6 November, Morocco celebrates the 47th anniversary of the Green March.
A commemoration intended to remember the course of the epic mobilization of the Moroccan people by the late HM King Hassan II to recover peacefully the Moroccan Sahara which was occupied by Spain.
On the 6th November 1975, more than 350.000 Moroccan citizens responded to the royal appeal of the late HM King Hassan II, for the defence of territorial integrity and the pursuit of the march of development of the Southern Provinces of the Kingdom.
It is, in fact, a dynamic that has been set in motion since that time, and continues to be highlighted by the New Development Model under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty the King Mohammed VI.
The Moroccan Sahara is thus at the centre of the new economic dynamic experienced by the Kingdom reflecting the numerous structuring projects, that gave new impetus to the economic, social and industrial development of the southern provinces, making it an attractive pole for local and foreign investment and a gateway to the whole African continent.
This economic and diplomatic dynamic has also been reflected with the opening of more than 30 General consulates of different countries in Dakhla and Laayoune. An expression of the reinforcement of these brotherly countries’ support for the territorial integrity of Morocco and its sovereignty over its southern Provinces. To be mentioned that 84% of the United Nations members doesn’t recognize the named “Sadr”, neither the UN itself.
