Budapest (MTI) – Several thousand illegal migrants were in the vicinity of Budapest’s Keleti railway station on Thursday evening.
MTI’s correspondent said many were gathered in the square in front of the building and in underpasses, while a few were on station platforms.
Some migrants gave speeches in the square, and chants in English of “Germany, Germany: that’s where we want to go” were heard.
Others said that they would proceed towards Austria on foot.
A Hungarian woman warned the gathering in English that a soccer match between Hungary and Romania would be held nearby on Friday, and it would be better if they were to leave the area during this time, since they were at risk of violence against them.
Compared with the past few days, there was just a symbolic police presence, the correspondent said.
