Shocking PHOTOS: Budapest road looks as if a Russian missile hit it
People living in the nearby blocks of flats heard a crash, and then some garbage storage bins fell into a gigantic hole in the road.
According to the mayor of Budapest’s 21st district, Csepel, a high-pressure pipe broke under the road in front of a flat on Kiss János Altábornagy Street. The sorrowful event happened last night. The result was that the effluent water undermined the road, which gave way afterwards. Moreover, the outdoor garbage storage bins fell into a huge hole.
There is no running water and electricity in the blocks of flats in the neighbourhood. Authorities are already working on restoration, supply will probably be re-established by late today, Lénárd Borbély wrote on his Facebook page. The head of the local government promised to supply locals with drinking water.
