Socialists initiate parliament committee meeting over alleged child porn case
The opposition Socialist Party has called for parliament’s foreign affairs committee to be convened to discuss the alleged child pornography case of Hungary’s former ambassador to Peru, the committee’s Socialist deputy chairman said on Monday.
Citing press reports, Attila Mesterházy told MTI that former ambassador Gabor Kaleta had been arrested in connection with child pornography.
“It is now obvious that he has been withdrawn from the post because of that international crime,”
he said, adding that the committee members had not received any information whatsoever about the affair.
Mesterházy added that the case contained national security aspects, too. He called for representatives of the Constitution Protection Office, the Information Office, the Institute for Cyber Defence and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to brief the committee.
