Speaker Kövér wants harsher punishment for MPs using smoke bombs in the Parliament

Speaker of Parliament László Kövér has filed a criminal complaint over the opposition’s disruption of a parliament session last week in response to a vote on banning the Pride march, parliament’s press office said on Friday.

Kövér has filed his complaint with the Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office against lawmakers Dávid Bedő, Ákos Hadházy, Lajos Lőcsei and unidentified perpetrators, the statement said.

In his justification, Kövér said the subjects of the complaint had “endangered the well-being” of their fellow MPs by obstructing proceedings in a vote in parliament on amendment proposals to the assembly law related to child protection, “with the express intention of preventing the passage of the bill”.
