HVG.hu writes that Lonely Planet, the biggest guide book publisher, included Budapest’s Szimpla Kert in its newest pocket book, 50 Bars to Blow Your Mind.

The most remarkable entertainment and catering venues are lined up in the pocket book, based on different categories. These places are worthy of attention and thus gained inclusion in 50 Bars to Blow Your Mind.

The Budapest-located Szimpla Kert is mentioned in the category of “Past lives//Historical Bars” among venues such as the Cave Bar in Petra, the Gordon’s Wine Bar in London, The Grill in Aberdeen, and the oldest Irish pub, Sean’s Bar in Athlone.

According to Index, the book explains in a short introduction to Szimpla the phenomenon of the ruin bars and mentions the art exhibitions and markets that are often held in the bar.

Also, it is not the first time that Lonely Planet praises Szimpla: in 2013 they chose Budapest as one of the best European destinations of a journey and then they also highlighted Szimpla, the “forefather” of ruin bars.
