A high-speed police chase ended in a serious crash late on Friday night in Székesfehérvár after a 17-year-old driver attempted to evade officers. They had tried to stop a Honda travelling at excessive speed by using flashing lights and sirens, but the teenager ignored the signal and sped away.
According to the statement, during the pursuit, the young driver raced through several streets in the city, committing a series of dangerous traffic offences. He repeatedly ignored stop signs and mandatory direction signs, drove onto a cycle path, and continued fleeing even after one of the vehicle’s tyres suffered a puncture.
Crash leaves police officers injured
The chase came to an end in Szeder Street, where the fleeing Honda collided with the side of an oncoming police car that was also using its emergency lights. The force of the impact pushed the police vehicle into a parked car, while the Honda’s front left tyre was completely destroyed.
The two police officers inside the patrol car were injured in the collision. Despite their injuries, they immediately took action and arrested the teenage driver at the scene. The 17-year-old suspect and his 16-year-old passenger were also injured and taken to hospital by ambulance.

Driver had no licence and was allegedly under the influence
Officers later discovered that the teenager had never held a driving licence and was already banned from driving when he got behind the wheel. During a search of the Honda, officers found items associated with drug use as well as a foil-wrapped crystalline substance suspected to be an illegal narcotic, both of which were seized as evidence.
Criminal proceedings have been launched against the teenager on suspicion of driving while disqualified and driving under the influence of drugs. Authorities are also investigating the numerous traffic offences committed during the chase, with officers reviewing CCTV footage to establish the full sequence of events. The possible involvement of the 16-year-old passenger in drug-related offences is also under investigation.
