The most luxurious place opened in Budapest – PHOTOS
The Matild Palace includes a luxury hotel, a Michelin-starred restaurant, a cabaret and a sky bar with the city’s best view.
The Hungarian capital offers many high-end hotels, restaurants, cafés and sky bars.

Now they have gotten competition. The Matild Palace was finally opened close to the Erzsébet Bridge on the Pest side, after five long years of reconstruction works.
Hungarians know the two neo-Baroque buildings on the two sides of the Rákóczi avenue by the name of Klotild and Matild Palace.
The Palace on the Southside in Ferenciek Square, which was built 120 years ago and is today part of UNESCO’s World Heritage List, was chosen as the location of this new luxury hotel.
One of Budapest’s most impressive buildings went under a series of extensive reconstruction works to welcome guests in a 130-bedroom hotel, writes turizmus.com.
The Matild Palace, a Luxury Collection Hotel, is more than “just” a luxury hotel.
It is also the location where
the first European restaurant of the Michelin-starred Spago restaurant, a cabaret, and a sky bar with a mesmerising view of the city are also located.
The Hotel belongs to the Marriot Bonvoy, which introduces The Luxury Collection brand in Hungary with the re-opening of the iconic palace.
The basis of the reconstruction plans was the joint work of Budapest architects Péter Dajka and Antal Puhl. The interior of the palace is the design of Maria Vafiadis, founder of MKV Design.
The owners hope that the building once again can become the popular centre of Budapest’s social life. They, for sure, did everything when they introduced modern luxury while keeping the original motives and architectural designs intact.
“The Palace allows guests to enjoy modern comfort and impeccable service while staying at a royal palace”,
said Candice D’Cruz, vice-president of the European, Near Eastern and African regions of Marriot International Luxury Brands.
The owners made sure that the experience would not only be about staying at a palace but also about offering further possibilities of entertainment and gastronomy. Wolfgang Puck, the star chef, is opening his first restaurant in Europe to introduce the gastronomy of Beverly Hills in Hungary.
The menu includes the masterpieces of traditional Hungarian kitchen, prepared based on recipes inspired by the region’s ingredients
The world-known chef will also be charged with a rooftop bar called The Duchess, which is set to open in July. The mesmerising view it will have includes the Citadel, the Buda Castle or the Basilica.
Moreover, in September, Matild Café and Cabaret will also open. The Café is not a brand new idea. Before the first world war, it was the most popular place for the society of the capital. Very soon, it will once again welcome guests with national and international musicians.
Apart from 111 signature rooms, 19 suits offer the best experience. The hotel has four room categories so that everyone can find what they need.
For those travelling with their family, they have the option of a “Loft guest room”, which gives an “infinite view” of the Danube.
The most outstanding part of the palace is probably
the Crown Tower Suite with its three floors, situated in the 48-metres tall tower.
The suit pays homage to the princess, who was the advocate for building the palace. The tower, of course, offers a 360-degree view of the whole city.
Since the palace is situated in Budapest, a spa can not be missed by any means. The Matild Palace Swan Spa gives the traditional experience of the best Hungarian thermal baths with a modern and luxurious twist. Their bathrooms, of course, reflect the same style.

So what is happening with twin that has been empty for some time??
Spago in Beverly Hills has 2 Michelin stars. The one in Budapest has none (so far). So the hotel does not have a Michelin starred restaurant.
