In search of expensive properties
I am sure many of you have wondered what it is like to live in a castle or on a stunning vineyard at Lake Balaton. Many have also wondered where and what Hungary’s most expensive properties are. Portfolio.hu looked into these questions.
An important stipulation is that only residential properties are involved.
Thus, apartment buildings and hotels are not included. Also, there are properties whose price is not published. For this reason, they are not included in the list.
5. American-style luxury family home — HUF 3 billion (€7.8 million)
The last property on the five-item list is a property in Budapest’s 2nd district. A house of 1,100 square metres and a plot of 4,000 square metres serve the owner. 8 rooms, 6 bedrooms, and 7 bathrooms are what you get for your money.
There is also a lift, jacuzzi, swimming pool, fireplace, and sauna.
4. Villa on the Danube — HUF 3.06 billion (€8 million)
This property is located on the banks of the Danube in the 3rd district of Budapest. The newly renovated 3-storey villa of 1,200 sqm is complemented by a 2,000 sqm plot.
A garage, boathouse, and a wellness area and wine bar overlooking the Danube will make every day spent here unforgettable.
3. Siófok Horse Farm — HUF 3.45 billion (€9 million)
The only property at Lake Balaton on the list is a 70,000 square metre plot and a 2,200 square metre villa.
The property also includes its own riding stables, fish pond, forest, and a solar park.
The property has 2 additional apartments for staff.

2. Villa in district II — HUF 3.83 billion (€10 million)

The villa comes with a plot of 5,900 square metres.
1. Prónay-Patay mansion — HUF 4.1 billion (€10.5 million)
Hungary’s most expensive property is a castle. Built in 1910, it was renovated in 2012 to a design by architect Herrer Y Ceaser.
The colourful and varied interior wallpaper, reminiscent of Versailles, makes the castle really special.
The 3,133 square metre property has 13 bedrooms, 2 reception rooms, and 7 bathrooms. The property includes a breathtaking 13.3-hectare estate.
Prices can change, as property prices are constantly rising. In some places, such as Lake Balaton, property prices have even doubled, writes népszava.hu.
