Fearmongering? Third world war possible, says Hungarian government

Hungary will support any peace initiative made at the United Nations General Assembly Session and will reject any proposal that risks escalation, “because today we face the real risk of a third world war,” the minister of foreign affairs and trade said in New York on Monday.
According to a foreign ministry statement, Péter Szijjártó said he hoped that participants of the conference would use their time this week “to take a step towards peace in Ukraine after diminishing prospects following the promising developments of recent months.”
Szijjártó said that although progress had been made in “bringing armed conflicts at several places in the world towards a settlement”, concerning the war in Ukraine “there has been no progress towards peace despite good intentions and [US President] Donald Trump’s efforts.”
“Unfortunately, pro-war voices in Europe are much stronger than pro-peace voices. This was clear during preparations for the UN assembly… At several foreign ministerial meetings of the EU … participants were being drilled to promote the European narrative concerning the war in Ukraine…”
Brussels, he said, was “trying to make EU members represent this pro-war position,” Szijjártó said.
Szijjártó said he was scheduled to have bilateral talks with ten of his UN counterparts during the day, primarily with representatives of countries in Africa and Southeast Asia. He said he would sign six intergovernmental agreements on economic cooperation, scholarships and political consultations.
Meanwhile, Szijjártó called Africa “a continent of opportunities”, adding that population growth on that continent “offers a huge opportunity on one hand, but also a great risk … because Europe and the Western world cannot provide such comprehensive economic development programmes as to create enough jobs, improve living standards, offer education and health services to a growing population. If all that fails, Africa will not be able to keep its growing population at home … leading to a huge humanitarian catastrophe,” he said. Those masses would set off for Europe and create “an unsolvable emergency,” he said.
“We Hungarians are doing our part with scholarship programmes, economic development, humanitarian schemes and tied-aid water management and food-security projects. We are helping African countries develop in a way that they can retain their growing populations,” the foreign minister said.

Szijjarto is a propagandist for Russia. He constantly paints the EU as “pro war” for promoting the defence of Ukraine as if defence is not a basic right of any country under attack. At the same time he and Orban are completely silent about the evils of Russian aggression. Fidesz works for Russia. It is that simple.
