This Autumn: Festival of Museums
The autumn festival of museums is organised for the 10th time between the 28th of September and the 15th of November. Visitors can choose from more than 1600 programmes in 150 museums all around the country.
The aim of the event is to enable more and more people to visit museums and see different exhibitions. The success of the event is shown by data: 25 thousand people visited the festival in the first year whereas 150 thousand people last year.
According to szeretlekmagyarország.hu the programmes are divided into ten themes, out of which seven aim general visitors, one aims educators, another kindergarten teachers and the last theme offers professional programmes.
Programmes for the audience:
- The traveller museum theme: 36 museums bring their miniature exhibitions, objects of art and educational programmes to the streets and institutions.
- Right here, right now! – From the cellar to the attic theme: includes 61 programmes where visitors can get to know the hidden sides of museums.
- The 16+ – Mystery in the museum theme: 44 different programmes for teens with detective puzzle solving and treasure hunting games.
- Great drawing: this year the storytelling drawings are in the spotlight.
- Stroll, walk, cycle and discover with us! – Our cultural fields differently theme: includes 57 different hiking programmes where museum specialists try to call attention to the cultural values of different regions.
- Museum farewell theme: this includes events based on Márton’s Day spiced with the elements of gastronomy.
- In the wake of craft theme: showcases old professions which have been forgotten about.
- Something new is that the festival can be followed via EVENT@HAND MÖF, a free and offline mobile application designed by MTA SZTAKI.
