This Hungarian infertility-treatment clinic made it to the world’s top
In the field of infertility, four clinics have received scientific recognition in the whole world. One of them is the Hungarian Versys Clinics.
The Hungarian Versys Clinic’s Human Reproduction Institute received recognition from the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE) which is the world’s number one scientific society concerning infertility – Magyar Nemzet reports. The clinic is the first Hungarian institution to receive the ART Center Certification for Good Practice (ARTCC). The recognition the Hungarian clinic received is especially important as the Hungarian government has been taking increased responsibility in infertility treatments since the beginning of 2020.
This is not the only accomplishment the clinic received; however, they have already achieved a lot in the field of Hungarian infertility research and treatment.
The Versys Clinic’s Human Reproduction Institute was established in 2009 by Attila Vereczkey. They were the ones who introduced preimplantation genetic testing with the molecular diagnostic method to Hungary, as well as the fertility prevention programme. Moreover, the clinic completed the first successful ovarian tissue transplant in case of malignant disease.
Professor Robert Edwards founded the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology. The English medical-researcher was responsible for the birth of the world’s first test-tube baby – for his work, he also received a Nobel Prize.
ESHRE currently has 10-15 members in the whole world. They publish both the most prestigious papers in the field of infertility and the most prestigious scientific accomplishments.
ESHRE included the ART Center Certification for Good Clinical Practice in 2008. They regarded it of exceptionally high importance because the question of safety became a crucial point in test-tube baby programmes – besides high success and effectiveness rates.
The ARTCC system provides the accreditation to those clinics that operate, based on the highest professional, scientific, research, and ethical principles, and at the same time, use the quality assurance systems. So far, only four clinics have received the ARTCC accreditation globally – one of them is now the Versys Clinics.
As we have reported earlier, Hungary is also proud of the Hungarian contribution, by Katalin Karikó biochemist, to the Pfizer vaccine. Read about the medical accomplishment here.
