Rumours have been circulating on the internet, that two major and divisive political figures might visit Hungary in the coming weeks or even days. The rumours are saying that Vladimir Putin, the President of Russia and Matteo Salvini, former interior minister might be coming to Budapest to a large international martial arts competition.

According to Mandiner, the World Judo Championships Seniors Hungary 2021, which is the final competition of the Olympic qualification series, drew the matches on Saturday and a total of 665 competitors have started the renowned competition from 118 countries on Sunday in Budapest.

According to the data of the Hungarian Judo Association, there are a total of three Olympic and sixteen World Champions among the martial artists, so the Hungarian competitors have a difficult contest ahead of them.

According to Magyar Nemzet, Vladimir Putin, who had already attended the World Judo Championships in Hungary back in 2017 in the László Papp Budapest Sportaréna was invited by none other than the President of the International Judo Federation, Marius L. Vizer who was recently re-elected in his position before the championships in the congress held in Budapest.

The invitation was confirmed by Dmitr Peskov, the spokesman of Kremlin, but he did not say whether Putin would visit the event.

On another note, the Russian President is highly likely to visit the competition as he is not only a martial arts enthusiast, but also a martial artist himself.

Although he was not there during the opening and the preliminary rounds as there were no signs of heightened security, Vladimir Putin might visit the renowned competition later this week, Index said.

The other political person who might appear at the event is Matteo Salvini. The famous Italian singer Al Bano, who has previously performed in other judo events, is a close friend of the President of the International Judo Federation, Marius L. Vizer.

Matteo Salvini might be coming together to the even with the famous singer. In addition to the judo summit, there might also be a political one, Magyar Nemzet said.

Matteo Salvini visited Hungary quite recently. He came to the country together with Mateusz Morawiecki, the Prime Ministre of Poland, this April to meet with Viktor Orbán. Vladimir Putin the Russian President, however, had visited Budapest in October back in 2019, Index reported.

Scary – why not Xi Jinping and Joe Biden and Angela Merkel.
Would make a WONDERFUL photo shot.
