The Hungarian Football Association (MLSZ) approved the transfer ofÚjpest’s league license, however, only if a Trustee of Bankruptcy approves it as well.
As we have already published, Újpest FC is on the verge of bankruptcy and relegation because of its supposed debts. To avoid the relegation, Roderick Duchatelet, owner of the club, initiated the transfer of Újpest’s first-league license from the currently indebted Újpest FC Kft to a new company, Újpest 1885 Futball Kft. The MLSZapproved the transfer on a session on Thursday, although to the Újpesti Torna Egylet (UTE) instead of the other company. Most people considers it as a success, but not Duchatelet.
He is still devastated because the transfer is bond to a condition, namely, a Trustee of Bankruptcy has to approve as well. Duchatelet fears that the trustee not an expert of sport, and will not care about the traditions of the club. In his eyes, the case is already lost, as he reacted to the decision in a press release on Thursday night.
UTE announced previously that is willing to pay HUF 194,377 million unpaid taxes of Újpest FC Kft.
The fate of Újpest FC is still not clear, nothing changed for the club with this decision. Nevertheless, Zsolt Wintermantel, mayor of Újpewst, is confident that the club will play on Sunday against Diósgyőr.
