Unexpected change at Budapest Airport – what will the management do?

Budapest Airport travel

Chris Dinsdale, the CEO of Budapest Airport, will leave the company at the end of July. From August, he will take up a position as president and CEO of the Calgary Airport Authority, the operator of Calgary International Airport in Canada.

Chris Dinsdale informed the shareholders of Budapest Airport at the beginning of the year that after more than seven years in senior management and almost two decades in Hungary, he will be taking up a new challenge in his native Canada. The shareholders of Budapest Airport respect the CEO’s decision and wish him all the best.

Chris Dinsdale has worked as CFO since 2015 and later also as deputy CEO, while finally as CEO since 2021 at the company operating Ferenc Liszt International Airport. He has played a major role in the airport winning the Skytrax “Best Airport in Eastern Europe” award several times and the “Best Airport in Europe” Award, announced by Airports Council International (ACI) today. Chris Dinsdale’s work has contributed greatly to the development of the airport as a flagship of Hungarian tourism and a worthy gateway to Hungary.

He created and implemented Budapest Airport’s corporate strategy and launched and implemented projects related to quality and sustainability, which have elevated the position of the company at an international level.

Especially his dedication, ensuring the company’s stability during the pandemic and preparing the airport for the restart of aviation after COVID was outstanding.

We wish him all the best and great success for his future work in Canada.”

The shareholders of Budapest Airport will announce the new CEO shortly, and remain committed to the continuity and excellence of the management and day-to-day operation of Budapest Airport.

Hope that future replacement person doesn’t hold himself or herself in such high regard that they decide to re-invent the wheel rather than just improving the spokes. So often new leaders dismantle all of the infrastructure that has worked, wanting to leave their own mark, and ruin a place. Saw that at a place I’d worked for 10 yrs. Soon over half of the staff who had been so commited, were spread far & wide. An ex military man really screwed things up with his attitude and approach. Should’ve stayed retired, or behind a fancy desk glad to pick up his large pay that upper status would have given. Don’t ever trust people too full of themselves.
