Hungarian FM: Victory of the right in Austria is good news for Hungary
According to Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó, the victory of parties of the right in Austria is good news for Hungary; this is because sincere Austrian politicians who reject hypocrisy now have the chance to give a real response to the historic challenges facing Europe.
In a statement sent to Hungarian news agency MTI, the Ministry wrote that the Hungarian foreign minister held telephone talks with his Austrian counterpart following the formation of Austria’s new coalition government.
Karin Kneissl and Péter Szijjártó confirmed that they are looking forward to working together, and agreed that the newly-formed Austrian government will open a new era in the development of Austrian-Hungarian strategic relations.
According to the Ministry’s statement, in early 2018 Ms. Kneissl will make an official visit to Budapest.
The new coalition government formed by the Austrian People’s Party (ÖVP) and the Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ) took its oath of office in Vienna on Monday.
