VIDEO: Yacht burning on the Danube near famous Budapest island!
An approximately 15-20 metres long boat is on fire near Hajógyári Island, the Sziget Fesztivál’s venue, in Budapest. Based on media reports, the firefighters are already working to extinguish the fire and contain the smoke.
According to the Budapest Disaster Management Authority spokesperson, Márk Máté Kisdi, there are 20 firefighters and four fire engines near the burning boat. Furthermore, a fire squad boat helps their job from the river.

Telex.hu received multiple reader’s photos. Of course, we cannot use them, but you can check them out in their article. The news outlet said that a Mangusta 80-type yacht was burning.
According to a statement from the Wiking Yacht Club, the fire started at 12.30 PM. Firefighters arrived almost immediately, and the boat of the Szent Flórián fire squad helped with their work. The fire began in the yacht’s cockpit, but no people were injured. However, the damage is significant in the boat. Thanks to the quick reaction of the authorities, all other boats were escorted into a safe distance. As a result, there was no damage. Furthermore, the infrastructure of the port remained intact as well.
Firemen are still extinguishing the fire. The company added that they started an investigation and would share the details with the press.
