Volunteers help migrants buy tickets at Keleti station
Budapest, September 5 (MTI) – Volunteers on Saturday helped migrants waiting at Budapest’s Keleti station buy westbound train tickets, MTI’s correspondent at the site reported.
The volunteers also put up directions at the end of platforms containing information about destinations and departure times as well as distances between stations and the border.
One volunteer told MTI that migrants, as long as they possessed a valid ticket, would be able to get to the Austrian border, and to this end they wanted to help them.
Compared with the situation on Friday afternoon, the number of migrants at Keleti station and surrounding areas has declined drastically.
Meanwhile, the activities of aid organisations in and around Keleti have intensified significantly. Migrants are being served food (both hot and cold) and mineral water, as well as getting shoes, clothing and sanitary products.
