Virginia is one of the most popular states to move to for work, and many people are excited to brag about it within months of living there.  But what’s it really like?  What jobs can you expect to find here?  Does it pay well?

Virginia is an incredible state with a lot going for it, these are the top three employers here- and why it’s such an amazing state to live in.

Why Virginia?

Best known for being extremely in touch with history and having a large range of scenery from the oceanside to the mountains, Virginia is a state unlike any other.  Although Arlington real estate is expensive, the further you move away from the capital, the more affordable housing gets.

Education options here are fantastic, so if you’re planning on raising kids, it’s a great place to ensure they go to school.  Because it’s an expensive state, many may have worried about living here: but here’s everything you need to know about the top businesses in Virginia.

The Army

The United States army employs over 500,000 employees in Virginia.  Although most of these are flown in from other states for things like basic training, plenty of employees also work and live in Virginia full time.

These jobs can range from working directly with the soldiers to programming and setting up websites and training information.  There’s room for someone of any kind of specialty in the Army, so it should be taken into serious consideration.

Dollar Tree

The Dollar Tree, which recently infamously raised its prices to $1.25, employs over 176,100 people in Virginia.  This is a mix of stores, as well as the corporate headquarters.  Although they are well known for changing low for all of their products, corporate employees are paid extremely well.

Unfortunately, hourly workers under Dollar Tree aren’t paid as well and get close to minimum wage, if not minimum wage itself.  Because of the high cost of living in Virginia, many have been stating that Dollar Tree should pay its employees far more.

Hilton

Hilton Hotels are a luxury brand that has made a name for itself, offering great service and catering to all clients’ needs.  Working for Hilton, whether it’s for the corporate office or in the hotels themselves, ensures that you’ll get a touch of luxury in your daily life.  With higher pay than either of the other two options on this list, Hilton employs 169,000 people in Virginia and offers the chance to try a new career.  The highest paying workers for Hilton are website designers and hotel managers.  Although you can work your way up to the top working within the hotel, it’s a better idea to get the training to become a website designer instead.

This State Has Something for Everyone

Whether you’re interested in living in the mountains, or by the sea- or you want a career in the Army, or working for Hilton, it’s important that you seriously consider moving to Virginia.  This state has something for everyone, and will make sure you’re happy to live here.
