Which Company Is The Utmost Winner Of State Constructions?
Although Közgép have been having a great role in public procurements, not this, close to Fidesz interest company was the utmost winner of state constructions, hvg.hu reports. However, it managed to outstrip several time-honored Austrian and French companies and company groups in the public procurement competition – as the statement of Portfolió shows.
An Austrian background company group, the Strabag concern won the most public procurement last year, wrote the professional economic portal Portfolió in their Monday article about last year’s procurements.
According to the portal the concern became one of the winners with an aggregated public procurement worth more than HUF 580 billion. Portfolió also reports that the flagship of the group, Strabag General Building Ltd. won HUF 412 billion by themselves which resulted in the second place, since the Közgép Building and Steel Construction Manufacturer Ltd. was even more successful: they won HUF 491 billion public orders in the building industry in 2013.
Közgép was originally dealing with implementations related to steel structures, but their scope of activities expanded with motorway, railway, public utility and environmental constructions since 2004. Portfolió says that motorway and highway constructions (M3, M4, 86) and bridge constructions (renewal of Margaret bridge, construction of Tiszavirág bridge in Szolnok, and the New Mosoni Danube bridge) are among the principal investments of the company. In 2011 it turned out that Közgép is the property of Simicska Lajos, the former Party Treasurer, he has shares in the company. Magyar Narancs made a similar statement about public procurements in 2012, that time Közgép became the winner.
Portfolió says that the third place winner is also an Austrian company, the Swietelsky, which earned HUF 396 billion procurement in 2013, and the fourth is the French origin Colas group. Duna Asphalt, which was founded in 1996, and operates in its present form since 2010, won HUF 246 billion last year, which is also a great result.
