World-class translational research institute inaugurated in Debrecen
Budapest (MTI) – ScanoMed, Hungary’s leading nuclear medicine centre, inaugurated a world-class translational research institute at its Debrecen branch, in eastern Hungary, on Friday.
The research institute, a one billion forint (EUR 3.2m) project, will allow researchers to take part in the pre-clinical trials of drug development, the phase before the human testing of drugs.
Tamas Karsai, deputy state secretary for the economy ministry, praised ScanoMed for successfully completing the project with the “small amount” of EU support of 54.2 million forints (EUR 173,000).
Karsai said a total of 700 billion forints (EUR 2.2bn) would be allocated to research and innovation over the union’s 2014-2020 budgetary cycle.
