WOW! A Hungarian won the 2021 iPhone Photography Award
The jury awarded István Kerekes (from Transylvania, Romania) with the Grand Prize of the 14th iPhone Photography Awards.
According to hvg.hu, photos came from 140 countries in 17 categories plus the Photographer of the Year. The latter is what Mr Kerekes won
with his “Transylvanian Shepherds” (our featured image).
He took the photo with an iPhone 7 in Marosvásárhely (Targu Mures).
“I have been following the lives of shepherds for several years in the historical region of Transylvania in Central Romania,” he told the Washington Post. “When walking in some parts of Transylvania,
one would often feel that you have traveled back in time.
There is hardly any sign of modern technology here, it is as if time had stopped, while beauty and nature are preserved. Sheep farming has been a tradition in this region for centuries.”
“This picture shows Alexandru and Peter, who are shepherds near Targu Mures locality,” he added. “They graze their animals near the Mures river,” he said.

NB: For backwards (and i… s) at HVG: the shot was taken near Marosvásárhely by the Maros river. And pls, stop calling Pozsony Bratislava, etc. etc. in Hungarian publications, whether written in English or Hungarian. for crying out loud!
