Peace is under threat from outside today and imperial aspirations want to weigh down on the freedom of Hungarians once again, the state secretary for Hungarian communities abroad said at an event marking the 1848-49 revolution and freedom fight in Washington, DC, at the Kossuth House, the local Hungarian centre.
“It is good news for us that one of the most important players, the United States, has now taken the lead in the peace camp,” Lőrinc Nacsa said.

He went on to say that after 2010 the turn in Hungarian national politics made it clear that the key to the survival of the Hungarian people is national unity, for which purpose Hungarians abroad were able to regain their citizenship, and simplified naturalization also became available. Cooperation among Hungarians is not an option, as it is about interdependence, he added.

Sándor Végh, the head of the Kossuth Foundation that operates the Kossuth House, said 2025 was the year of the future generation in national politics. The survival of the Hungarian nation outside the borders of the motherland can be guaranteed by young people, as they will carry on the legacy of March 15th.

Hungarian ambassador Szabolcs Takács said young people must be equipped to face the challenges of today, and the means to do so are the preservation of Hungarian civic values, family love, and religion.
