1956 monument vandalised in Sopron

A monument commemorating Hungary’s 1956 anti-Soviet revolution has been vandalised in Sopron, in western Hungary, the local government said on Tuesday.

Unknown perpetrators are believed to have poured overnight white paint over the downtown monument erected on the revolution’s 60th anniversary last year, it said.

The local government has resolutely condemned the act.

The incident followed the vandalisation of another monument erected in the nearby village of Balf as a tribute to the Jewish forced labourers killed during WWII.

Investigations are under way, the Győr-Moson-Sopron county police said.

The two is totally and clearly unrelated. I can understand the vandalisation of a former soviet oppressor statues of the nation, meaning oppressors of Magyars Christian and Magyar Jewish people. The young will have their say about the anti-soviet uprising, rightfully!
As for the “vandalisation of another monument erected in the nearby village of Balf as a tribute to the Jewish forced labourers killed during WWII.”, No!, our modern young would not go there. My dad told me how he saw Magyar Jews taken by the NAZI’s from town and how he saw very few come back after the war. No!, my dad like other parents saw that there was something wrong, not knowing till much later. Anyone who would take our people away against their will is an enemy of the state, no matter what religion that’s currently observed. This second vandalism is not from our people or culture, the Christians & Jewish families dates back thousands of years before Christ. The Kalvanists and many more since makes us who we are. No stupid westerner is going to change that!!
