Madrid, October 22 (MTI) – Kinga Gal, MEP of Hungary’s ruling Fidesz, was elected as one of 10 vice presidents of the European People’s Party at an EPP congress in Madrid on Thursday.
The congress reelected Antonio Lopez-Isturiz as secretary general.
EPP President Joseph Daul was reelected on Wednesday.
Fidesz MEP Jozsef Szajer said that Gal’s election was an honour for Fidesz and the Hungarian government, and indicated that Fidesz was “an important component” of EPP’s policymaking.
Her election was also in appreciation of the Hungarian government’s achievements both in the economy and in handling the migration crisis, Szajer said.
