3 interesting things Magyar Culture was used in
If you don’t already know, Magyar Culture is actually a predecessor of the country we know as Hungary today. Located in Central Europe, famous for its beautiful architecture and rich history, the country is still widely referred to as Magyar, mostly by the Hungarians. Magyar comes from Old Hungarian Magyar, the name of one of the 7 major semi-nomadic Hungarian tribes. Magyars dominated all other tribes and had a defining influence on Hungarian culture. One of the earlier mentions of the term dates back to 810 even. Their culture has been blooming for over a century and has continued to fascinate and impress people from around the world.

Clearly it is distinct enough and important for the locals that they still use this term, which frankly isn’t used by many other people. To define themselves and add identity to their culture. Since this particular culture turned out to be so influential, it is only natural that it also influenced another outside of the country and not only in the traditional cultural sense, but Magyars have also influenced a variety of industries, some of which one might not even link to any culture upon the first look.s Were going to discuss 3 of the most interesting things that have come out of the Magyar culture outside of Hungary and their beautiful culture.
Video Games
We all know that video games draw a lot of inspiration from different cultural phenomena and Magyar Culture just happens to be one of them. Video Games are by far the most popular way for young people to pass time and they generate a stupendous amount of income every year. What is quite odd in regards to video games, is that cultural themes and sort of ancient setups do really well in video games, even though one would assume that young people would want something way more modern. One example that proves this theory is inaccurate is a game called Kingdom Come: Deliverance, which was inspired by the Hungarian culture. The game takes place in the medieval Kingdom of Bohemia, which was an Imperial State of the Holy Roman Empire. The game is extremely accurate historically which makes the game even more enjoyable knowing that the set up is based on facts and all the figures, nature, buildings and even armor are replicated as closely as possible. The game was launched on Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One back in 2018 and has since become very popular. Obviously, games like these have a very particular audience and are not for everyone, but the game has managed to acquire quite a following between the very loyal fans, which there are a lot of. This is a very interesting use of the Magyar culture and proves that when done right, projects like these can be successful.
Online Slots
Just like with Video Games, Online slots are also quite fond of historical themes. As we’ve already discussed, Hungarian culture is quite distinct and stays relevant today, even if in different forms. You would be surprised how many historical online slots there are and how in-demand they actually prove to be. People all over the world enjoy these particular types of slots because they feel more engaging, exciting and complex. They are usually available on every online casino, more or less depending on the region. The latest country to hop on the trend has actually been Canada.
Due to a considerably growing Hungarian community in cities like Toronto and Vancouver, more and more Hungarian culture can be seen in Canada. Although most of this culture is represented in cuisine or souvenirs, thankfully quite a lot of it has managed to seep into the entertainment industry. Thanks to video games, many Canadians were already acquainted with Magyar culture. Therefore, seeing this culture seep into the gambling industry made it somewhat irresistible to try it out. The Magyar-themed slots were at the right place at the right time as the Canadian online casino business was suffering a severe lack of diversity, but once a special online casino Canada started diversifying their portfolio with these exotic culture-focused games, the scene went through as a renaissance of sorts.
It seems like the Magyar culture will be getting a lot more popular, particularly in the casino industry because the demand has been great and the online casinos seem to be getting a lot of praise for introducing them in the first place.
Movies
Probably the least surprising category on this list is Film. You can choose any random culture or a historical event and there is a big chance that someone already made a movie about it. While Magyar is no random culture, there are a couple of very high-quality movies made around the subject and they are popular in Hungary, but also way past its borders. The Hungarian movie scene is particularly inspiring in Europe, with many outstanding films that have gotten worldwide recognition. Hungarian movie scene has been very active and successful since the late 1960s and love of the movies, most accurately depicting life in Hungary in that period is actually called The Round-Up, which tells a story of a post-revolution Hungary, with the focus on the failed uprising held by Lajos Kossuth against the Austrian regime, followed by the extremely violent brutal round-up of rebels. This movie is a great way to learn more about the culture and how it has evolved over the decades. There are also plenty of other movies exploring Hungarian reality in different lenses, which is always refreshing.
It is obvious that the Hungarian culture is extremely rich and has managed to evolve quite a bit since the 7th century while maintaining its very core in an original state.
The Magyars still refer to themselves with this name and are proud of their culture, which you can see in many interesting ways in which it manifests these days.
