5 new places in Budapest you should not miss

Budapest food gastronomy Hungary tourism travel

Are you looking for your next favourite spot for a lunch date or after-work drinks in Budapest? These newly opened restaurants, garden bars and breakfast places listed by Funzine are waiting for you!

1. Badhanna

Both the interior design and courtyard decoration reflect the Asian culture in this extravagant restaurant. Savour delicious dishes and refreshing drinks in a welcoming environment, surrounded by neon lights, Asian-themed wall paintings and lush greenery.  The dishes are served in small portions just like in certain parts of Asia so that customers can enjoy food as a shared experience – Funzine reported.

Location:  18 Hercegprímás St, Budapest 1051

2. Mad Garden Buda

Nestled in Óbuda, this garden bistro is the perfect place to enjoy a refreshing glass of craft beer or organic wine. Once there you might want to taste their hellishly good tacos. Mad Garden awaits visitors with various summer programmes such as jazz concerts, family events, community fairs, slam poetry evenings and movie nights.

Location: 1 Miklós Square, Budapest 1033

3. Kilenc Kert

Take a short break from the hustle and bustle of the city centre and try out the incredible street food selection of Kilenc Kert (Nine Gardens). The menu does not only consist of artisan beef burgers, salmon steaks and salads, but you will also find a wide selection of vegan dishes and desserts. The terrace is open until late hours for coffee lovers and those who like to unwind with a glass of fresh lemonade in hand.

Location: 58 Thaly Kálmán St, Budapest 1096

4. Café Brunch Bazilika

As the name suggests, the café’s main specialty is brunch. You can enjoy a delicious breakfast at any time of the day in the grand hall of the historic Festetics Palace. Our favourite picks are the smoked salmon avocado bagel and the granola bowl richly topped with fruit and yogurt. However, you should not miss the trademark of Café Brunch either, the famous Hungarian scrambled eggs which come with salad or homemade bread. Good news for those who follow a gluten-free or vegan diet – thanks to the special selections, you will not leave with an empty stomach.

Location: 10 Zrínyi St, Budapest 1051

5. Jónás Craft Beer & Food

This brewery has just reopened and now welcomes visitors at Bikás Park. Located right next to the lake, this friendly bistro offers a wide range of dishes and drinks. Their menu selection is suitable for a hearty breakfast, a beef lunch accompanied by a glass of craft beer or an evening gathering with friends and some cocktails involved. You will not regret paying a visit to this lovely place!
