A hotel insider’s tips for your stay in Budapest
The Forbes Travel Guide had a great idea and asked Kempinski Hotel Corvinus Budapest’s concierge for some advice about the best ways to spend a few days in our capital. Who would have better tips than a resident, a hotel veteran, who interacts with hundreds of tourists on a daily basis?
The article states that there’s always a reason to return to Budapest. This is also what András Csákvári, the concierge of Kempinski Hotel Corvinus Budapest believes. And we should definitely trust what he says since he’s a real expert in introducing the best spots in the city.
When asked about novelties in the city, András recommends a ride on the Budapest Eye Ferris wheel. The view of the Danube, the Buda Hills and the unique Zsolnay-tiled rooftops is worth overcoming your fear of height.
The Castle Garden Bazaar is a great spot for romantic walks, winding down after a busy day or just getting lost in the Castle District. The Bazaar has been renovated recently and it currently functions as a versatile event venue.
The concierge suggests starting your day in a café, where you can fuel up for the day ahead. There are several amazing coffeehouses in the city, one of the current favourites is Espresso Embassy found in the neighbourhood of Saint Stephen’s Basilica.
If you feel like you need an energy boost at any time of the day, just take a moment and admire the beautiful architectural treasures in the city. The Andrássy Avenue, the Liberty Square, the Parliament and the Chain Bridge are outstanding sights, but you should also try to get lost in the smaller streets, because you’ll find magic.
András recommends having lunch in the Downtown Market or at the Kopaszi Dam, where you can also enjoy nature. If you want to try traditional Hungarian meals while listening to pleasant music, spend the evening in Rézkakas Bistro.
Last but not least, let’s see two trusty insider tips for the city:
- Take tram 2 and 19 – They follow the curve of the Danube on the two sides of the river, thus enabling you to see the most famous sights of the city.
- Enjoy the gastronomic experiences offered by the Downtown Market – The ground-floor is the home of local specialties, while the second floor welcomes you with street food bistros and restaurant serving both Hungarian and international specialties.
