EFOTT 2017 attracted a record-breaking amount of visitors

Last week more than 111 thousand people visited the EFOTT Festival in Velence, which is a new record in the history of the university students’ festival. During the six days of the festival, 200 international and Hungarian performers took the stage in the evening, while sporting, cultural a gastronomic programmes entertained the festival-goers in the day.

Out of the cultural programmes of the six-day-long festival, the stand-up and theatrical performances attracted the most people, while the touristic opportunities were ruled by the horse carriage tours. Many people were also interested in ice-skating (on dry ice) and water sports.

Students could take part in several lectures, presentations and conversations organised by crime prevention associations, different youth and political organisations. Other popular programmes included foam parties, colour parties, games, quizzes and cooking shows.

The most visitors were attracted by Sean Paul, Hurts and Tinie Tempah, but popular Hungarian bands also put on amazing shows. The Hungarian line-up included performers like Punnany Massif, Well Hello, Halott Pénz, Tankcsapda and Anna & the Barbies. “EFOTT people are cool and energetic – this is sexy, and we love this” said the singer of the latter band on the last day of the festival.

“Even though the number of visitors grew year by year until 2015, last year’s stormy weather caused a bit of a fallback. Fortunately, this year we managed to exceed the 2015 visitor number and set a new record. I hope that everybody had fun in Velence” said festival director Gábor Maszlavér. He added that negotiations about the location of next year’s festival start next week. It will probably turn out in autumn whether or not the festival stays in Velence.
