Last week Ambassador László Szabó, MD presented his letter of credence to President Donald Trump in a solemn ceremony in the Oval Office of the White House.

During the 10-minute-long meeting, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Dr. László Szabó and President Donald Trump agreed that it is in the best interest of both countries to further enhance Hungarian-American bilateral relations.

Hungary and the United States are solid NATO allies with active participation in global missions, in the fight against international terrorism and ISIS, in military operations in Iraq, Afghanistan and Kosovo, enjoying mutually advantageous economic, trade and investment cooperation. The flourishing cultural ties and Hungarian heritage, with which the 1.4 million Hungarian Americans living in the United States enriched their newly found homeland, also provide a cornerstone for future cooperation between the two countries.

As we wrote before, Ambassador Szabó noted that he had worked for several years as HR director at American pharmaceuticals giant Ely Lilly in the state of Indiana. In the past three years, as parliamentary state secretary for foreign affairs and trade, he said that he had regularly negotiated and concluded agreements with the most important American players in business and the economy.
