Ryanair launches Budapest-Marrakesh flight

Ryanair, Europe’s No 1 airline, introduced its Budapest-Marrakesh flight on 30 October, turizmusonline.hu reports. This is the first air transport network between the Hungarian capital and Marrakesh, one of the most popular tourist destinations in the Kingdom of Morocco.

The Irish airline will operate with two weekly flights between Budapest and Marrakesh, one of the most popular tourist destinations in North Africa. The route will be operating from the beginning of the airline’s winter schedule (October, 2017 – March, 2018).

Travellers can reach Morocco’s cultural centre from Budapest twice a week, on Mondays and Fridays. The flights take off at 1 p.m. on both days, and it takes 4 hours and 15 minutes for the Boeing 737 airliner to reach Marrakesh, Morocco.

Marrakesh is one of the major cities of the Kingdom of Morocco. It is the fourth largest city in the country, after Casablanca, Fez and Tangier. Marrakesh is also known as the red city due to the city’s many characteristic buildings constructed of red sandstone.

The city of Marrakesh is Morocco’s biggest tourist attraction. The old town of Marrakesh was declared to be a UNESCO World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1985.

Other recently introduced flights

Ryanair continuously aims to increase the number of resort destinations available through non-stop flights from Budapest. The Irish airline recently introduced its plan to launch a direct flight from Budapest to Santander, Spain, from April, 2018. There will be two flights weekly from the Budapest airport to the Eastern Spanish city. Ryanair also launched a new Budapest route to Paphos (Cyprus) with three weekly flights commencing in April, 2018.

Apparently, Ryanair is not the only airline to launch more non-stop flights from Budapest to important international destinations.

Polish airline LOT will be launching direct passenger flights to New York and Chicago from Budapest next summer. American Airlines (AA) will launch a daily service from Philadelphia to Budapest in its summer schedule next year, and Air Canada will operate with daily flights to Budapest from next summer on. The first flight from Toronto to Budapest will leave on 5 April.

Wizz Air also launched a new route from Debrecen to Moscow, which will commence on 18 December, and it will be operated with two weekly flights (on Mondays and Fridays). Seats are already on sale.
