Fidesz: Soros-backed organisations already attacking ‘Stop Soros’ bill

The ruling Fidesz party has asked the government to submit to parliament the “Stop Soros” package of bills in February, Fidesz MP Gyula Budai said at a press conference in Budapest on Saturday.

“Soros-backed organisations are already attacking the proposed package of bills,” Budai said, adding that the package was being criticised by those who oppose the government’s migration policy, who organise and promote migration and are funded by Georg Soros, namely the Hungarian Helsinki Committee, Amnesty International and the Hungarian Civil Liberties Union.

He said it was “Soros-backed organisations” that had reported Hungary to Brussels on several occasions,

were the ones who had organised demonstrations over Hungary’s border fence and migration policy and had criticised from the outset the tightened asylum regulations, the transit zones and Hungary’s border protection measures. They were the ones who had criticised the referendum on the redistribution quota scheme and the national consultation on the “Soros Plan” and demanded the release of Ahmed H; the ones who are deeply involved in the “migration business” and refuse to reveal how much funding they receive from abroad, Budai insisted.

At their press conference, these organisations falsely claimed that the package concerns all civil organisations, Budai said, adding that the “Stop Soros” bill exclusively affects organisations that organise, fund and promote illegal migration. He confirmed that the bill is about Hungary refusing to become an “immigrant country”, refusing to accept economic and illegal migrants.
