Hungary sends condolences and provides help to Ghana after explosion

The Prime Minister’s Office on Friday sent condolences to the families of the victims of the explosion that killed or injured close to hundred people near the town of Bogoso in Ghana.

The government is providing humanitarian rapid aid relief of 5 million forints (€ 14,000) under the Hungary Helps humanitarian programme, the office said in a statement.

The aid will be delivered by the Hungarian Ecumenical Charity and distributed in partnership with its local organisation in support of rescue operations and the medical treatment of survivors.

As a country of origin for migrants leaving for Europe, Ghana is a major beneficiary of the Hungary Helps programme, it added.

A truck carrying explosives to a local gold mine collided with a motorcycle, causing a fire on Thursday.

President János Áder has sent a message of condolences to his Ghanaian counterpart over the explosion that killed or injured close to hundred people near the town of Bogoso in the country’s west.

Áder extended condolences to the families of the victims and the people of Ghana and expressed hope that those injured would recover swiftly, according to the document.
