Orbán: Hungary’s interests must be defended in Brussels
Hungary’s national interest must be defended in Brussels in the next two days, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said on Wednesday, ahead of an EU and NATO summit.
“We must prevent ourselves from getting dragged into a conflict of war, and we must say ‘no’ to proposals that may lead to an air war with Russia,” Orbán said in a video message.
“Proposals to extend sanctions against Russian aggression to the energy sector must be blocked, and this puts Hungary in a difficult — perhaps impossible — situation,” he added.
Orbán noted Hungary’s general election taking place in eleven days’ time, saying “this will be not only important, but decisive for us all.”
“We must protect all Hungary’s achievements made over the past twelve years,” the prime minister said.
“We must focus on the election ahead with every single sinew for every second,” Orbán said, adding that in the meantime he had to travel to Brussels for two days “to defend Hungary’s interests against proposals that are on the table.”

Defending his job, his interests, his re-election. Playing a dangerous game, but as always state media propaganda will tell us a different story.
Russia has stated it wants all unfriendly countries, which includes all eu counties, to start paying in rubles for its gas. If Hungary is not included it makes one wonder what Orban has done or signed us up to to avoid this. It’s a bit sad or perhaps arrogant to think he has any influence over Putin, or that there’s any ‘mutual respect’ as Szijjarto stated in an earlier article. In Russia’s eyes, Hungary is nothing more than a satellite country of the former Soviet Union. Orban means nothing to Putin, even with all his fawning behaviour, and he’d do well to remember that.
I LOVE this “protect against Brussels” talk. But please keep the money flowing, and yes, we did align our economy with Russia to a great extent.

Tibor, what money are you talking about? EU wants Hungarian sovereignty for money. No amount of money is worth accepting Brussels’ dictatorship. Hungary should declare neutrality and leave the corrupt EU.
